Description:
This is an exceptional late Victorian era Austrian or Austro-Hungarian empire box. The workmanship is incredibly ornate and it is decorate on all 6 sides, even the bottom is elegantly engraved. All of the metalwork is repoussé and it is accented with green art glass cabochons & mother of pearl. The Austrians are famous for their elaborate Renaissance revival jewelry & accessories. The box is beautifully lined with wood and may have been used for cigarettes or tobacco. It may have also been used for jewelry or other necessaire objects.

It measures 3.75 inches by 1 7/8 inches deep.

Condition:
It is in excellent condition with a good working hinge and no repairs. It has some minor wear to the brass finish around the bottom edges.
